Alice Jones died on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at the Dells Area Health Center in Dell Rapids.

Alice Everts was born on Feb. 28, 1923, the daughter of Wessel and Hattie (Ruter) Everts. She grew up in the Montrose area and graduated from Montrose High School in 1942. She lived and worked on the east coast, and it was there that she met Ben Jones. They were married on Jan. 11, 1948, in Medicine Lodge, Kan. Alice followed Ben's military career until 1960 when they moved to Dell Rapids. She raised her family and clerked for her husband as the driver's license examiner. They retired in 1983. Ben passed away in 1996. Alice has remained in her home since that time.

Alice was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dell Rapids and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Darrel (Diana) Jones of Dell Rapids; her daughter, Carolyn (Herman) Cazares of Arizona; her four grandsons: Daniel, Brian and Benjiman Ahlers and Cory Jones; her two granddaughters: Jessica and Erin Jones; and her eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church, Dell Rapids, Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, with Rev. Franklin J. McKeehan officiating.

Casketbearers were Dan Ahlers, James Richter, Benjiman Ahlers, Jason Ahlers, Cory Jones and Ken Crisp.

Interment was at Dell Rapids Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kahler Funeral Home.


Benjiman also as an individual military stone.
