Anton C. Jensen Funeral Held Here Last Tuesday
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday of last week for Anton C. Jensen, who passed away here at his home on Saturday following several years of ill health. Services were conducted at the Lutheran Church by the pastor, Rev. Ole M. Odland. Interment was made in the Dell Rapids cemetery with full military honors by members fo Geor. A. Fitzgerald post and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Jensen was formerly chief of police at Minneapolis, serving from 1921 – 1923. He joined the police department there in 1906 and retried as a license inspector in 1938. He also had a long military career that began in 1889 when he joined the army.
He served in the Spanish American War; during the Mexican border uprising and the World War I. In 1937 he retired as a lieutenant colonel from the 135th Infantry of the Minnesota National Guard. Upon his retirement the state awarded him the medal of merit.
Mr. and Mrs. Jensen, the former Hilda Halvorson, moved to Dell raids in 1944 where they have since made their home. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Irene Williams and one grandson, Billy Williams of Minneapolis, two brothers, Arthur J. Jensen of Minneapolis and N.P. Jensen of San Diego, California.
