Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Wed., Sept. 19, for Gertrude "Gertie" M. Reuter, 97, Sioux Falls, who died on Sept. 15, 2007, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls. The services will be held in Christ Lutheran Church at Hartford.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main Ave.
Claussen was born on March 9, 1910, at Rock Rapids, Iowa, to William and Carolyn (Sanny) Claussen. Her family moved to South Dakota and for the next 30 years she lived in the Hartford/Humboldt area. She married Arthur W. Reuter in 1930. In 1940, they moved to Hartford.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for more than 70 years. She was also active in the Ladies Aid.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elenora (William) Holiway; brother, Edwin Claussen; half-brother, Henry Claussen; half-sisters, Emma Grotjohn, Mary Olson and Jean Harris; a grandson; and her husband, Art in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Caroline (Russell) Greenfield of Sioux Falls; two sons, Arvin of Madison, and Donald (Jean) of Pickerington, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Alton (Sharon) Claussen of Pipestone, Minn.; two sisters, Loretta (Anthony) Pressler and Betty (Norman) Olson, both of Sioux Falls; and a sister in-law, Arleen Reuter of Sioux Falls.
Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
