For Burk Pioneer
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Feb 20, in Willow Creek Church for Otto B. Dahlgren, former resident of the Dell Rapids community who died on Feb 17, at his home in Huron. Services were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Ole M. Odland.
Otto B. Dahlgren was born in Oslo, Norway, November 9, 1862. When a boy he came to this country to the state of Kansas where the family resided a number of years coming to Minnehaha County, Dakota in the early eighties.
On June 18th, 1882, he was married to Cecelia Christine Stangeland and lived here until a few years after their marriage when the family moved to Canada, where some members of the family still live. Later Mr. Dahlgren moved to Huron where he lived until his departure from this life. He had been in poor health for some time.
When Mr. Dahlren lived here he served as secretary of Willow Creek church for some time.
Surviving are the widow, six daughters, Mrs. Melvin Jorgensen, Mina Dahlgren, Mrs. A.E. Swanson, all of Huron; Mrs. John Foss and Mrs. Clarence Foss of Burke Township and Ms. T.H. Chambers of Shaunavon, Sask. Canada; two sons, Elmer Dahlgren of Val Jean, Sask, Canada; Oscar, Herbert, Sask, Canada. Five children preceded him in death. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hans Monson, Lily, S.D.; Mrs. A.G. Olson of Tuttle, N.D.
Committal rites took place in the Willow Creek Church Cemetery.
