Alice June 26, 1929 - Aug. 15, 1997

Alice Heiman was born June 26, 1929 at Emery, SD, the daughter of Louis and Edith Heiman, She moved to Sioux Falls with her parents as a child and grew up there. She attended Franklin and Longfellow schools.

She worked in Sioux Falls until her marriage to Marvin Decker on August 4, 1947 in Luverne, MN. They made their home in Sioux Falls until 1957, when they moved to Dell Rapids.

Alice worked at Dakota Industries and then Litton Industries until her health forced her retirement.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and Women of ELCA, Legion Auxiliary, and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was also an accomplished artist.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Alice died on Friday, August 15, 1997 at the Dell Rapids Community Hospital. She was 68.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Marvin of Dell Rapids; two sons, Randy of Dell Rapids and Rick of Mitchell; three daughters, Robin Henslee of Durham, N.C., Renee Nielsen and Ronda Haak, both of Dell Rapids; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and on sister, Marge Hajek of Las Vegas, Nev.

Marvin Decker was born on September 11, 1926 near Hartford, South Dakota, the son of Giret and Ellen Decker. He grew up near Hartford and attended country school. Marv served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Sioux Falls.

He married Alice I. Heiman on August 4, 1946 at Luverne, Minnesota. They made their home in Sioux Falls and he worked as a truck driver for Tri-State Trucking for ten years. In 1956, he purchased Dell Rapids Motor Express trucking company and moved to Dell Rapids. He retired in 1988. Marv then worked part-time for Wyland Construction in Dell Rapids until his health forced him to quit. His wife died in 1997.

Marvin died on Monday, July 12, 1999 at the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was 72 and was preceded in death by his parents.

Marv was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and the Dell Rapids American Legion Post. He served on the Dell Rapids city council and was a member of the Dell Rapids fire Department for 22 years.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two sons, Randy of Dell Rapids and Rick of Mitchell; his three daughters, Robin Henslee of Durham, N.C., Renee Nielsen and Ronda Haak, both of Dell Rapids; his seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his brother, Merle of Sioux Falls; his two sisters, Jean Nelson and Judy Kirkpatrick of Sioux Falls; his sister-in-law, Marge Hajek of Colorado Springs, CO.; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
