Myrtle Christine Simons was born on May 19, 1887 in Dakota Territory, Lone Rock Township to John and Ineborg Aaker Simons. She received her education in rural Moody County schools and then was a music teacher going from farm to farm with a horse and buggy, giving lessons until her marriage on June 14, 1905 to Joseph Weigel. They farmed in Union Township until 1912 when they moved into Flandreau. She later worked at Ames, IA., Sioux Falls and at Ruthton before returning to Flandreau where she made her home. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church.

Survivors
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Waxdahl, Flandreau and Marguerite Weigel, Chicago; one son Joseph Delbert Weigel, Lima, Ohio; 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, parents, six brothers and four sisters.
