Sioux Falls, SD ~ Kimberly Ann Adamson, age 64, went to her heavenly home on Monday, August 28, 2023 from her earthly home in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2023 at St. Lambert Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, SD with burial at St. Michael Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD. Her family will be present to greet friends for visitation on Thursday at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory beginning at 5:00 PM. The holy rosary and liturgical wake service will follow the visitation beginning at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Kim’s name to St. Lambert Catholic Church or the St. Lambert Elementary School.

Kimberly Ann Merkwan was born on July 3, 1959 in Yankton, SD to Milton “Bud” and Bettie (Halsey) Merkwan. She was raised and received her education in Yankton attending Sacred Heart School. She then attended Yankton High School where she was a cheerleader, ran track, swim team, and excelled in academics graduating in 1977. Kim continued her education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion earning her bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1981.

Kim was united in marriage with Brad Adamson (her high school sweetheart) on September 17, 1983 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton. The couple first lived in Minneapolis, MN before making their home in Sioux Falls, SD in 1984 where they were blessed with two children, Matt and Malorie.

Kim was a gifted C.P.A. and worked at Citibank, Sioux Falls Catholic Schools, Nelson & Nelson CPA’s, Johnson Feed Incorporated (JFI), Avera McKennan where she served as Accounting Director, and Minnehaha County serving as budget and finance officer.
Kim was a devout Catholic and loved her faith. She was a parishioner of St. Lambert Parish and volunteered countless hours at the church and school. She also was a member of the O’Gorman Booster Club.

Kim enjoyed gardening and was an amazing cook. Above all, she loved her family especially hosting holiday gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Brad Adamson; son, Matt Adamson and his wife, Stacy; daughter, Malorie Adamson; four granddaughters, Veronica, Corinne, Adrianna and Francesca; her father, Milton “Bud” Merkwan of Yankton, SD; siblings, Kris Merkwan of Irvine, CA, Tod Merkwan and his wife, Dory of Huntington Beach, CA and Sarah Worman and her husband, Jeff of Sandia Park, NM; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Bettie Merkwan; and her grandmother, Maude Halsey.
