Lonnie Ray Hoefert
March 25, 1959 - April 21, 2023

Lonnie Hoefert, 64 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away with family at his side on Friday, April 21, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 West 41st Street with the family present to greet friends following. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Lonnie’s brothers and sisters were very important to him. If you couldn’t see the bond he had with each of them, you could feel it. The days and nights of stories throughout the years brought so much laughter, happiness and sometimes tears.

Because Lonnie was 1 of 9 children, his extended family is large. His love for his sister-in- law’s, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, was a given. They were always in his heart.

His kids remember dad wasn’t a big talker about feelings and such. His actions told them they belonged by his side and he would protect them always. Dad proved our place was with him and mom. We never felt out of place while with him. We belonged at car parts store, the junkyards and sometimes even his jobs. He was our protector.
Lonnie was known as “papa”to to his grand-daughters. They remember hunting for frogs, papa cracking their little toes, and his ability to fix everything. He loved chasing them around outside. He was patient and he was proud of them. Being a papa came easy for Lonnie.

To Lonnie’s buddies. Know that he was a true and loyal friend and cared about each of you. The traveling stories and shenaniganns in the office were some of the best of times for him. Thank you for your friendship.

Lonnie appreciated the employees he worked with through the years that chose to stand beside him for the better of the company’s he worked for. Integrity, loyal and hard working are words that describe Lonnie’s work ethic.

He was blessed with smart and compassionate superiors.

Lonnie and Deb were married for 43 years. Lonnie might say it felt like more but, Deb might say the same thing. We were blessed with 2 wonderful children, 2 beautiful grand-daughters, an amazing family and many friends. We are the lucky ones!
