August 3, 1950 – August 27, 2023

Wayne Lee Gullickson, 73, passed away August 27, 2023, under the compassionate care of hospice after a courageous cancer journey.

Wayne was born August 3, 1950, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Lynn and Arlene Gullickson. He graduated from Washington High School and went on to attend Augustana College. Wayne was married to Christine (Wallin), his high school sweetheart, in 1968. They were blessed with five children. As a family, they enjoyed camping, being outdoors together, and attending their children's activities. Wayne cherished anytime he could be with his family.

Wayne became involved in construction at a young age working for his father’s company, G.L. Gullickson Construction. He would later complete an apprenticeship with Blue Masonry and go on to incorporate his own masonry business. After a career as a mason, Wayne retired from the field at 62 years of age.

Wayne had a number of interests and hobbies he enjoyed throughout his life which included karate, motocross racing, bicycling, camping, hunting, and fishing. As a couple, Wayne and Chris always enjoyed spending time with their children and spoiling their grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Chandra Gullickson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Chris, their five children, Clint, Brenda, Bjorn (Alicia), Cody (Melissa) and Charlie; nine grandchildren; Hanna, Saige, Carter, Burkleigh, Brayson, Brooks, Beckam, Ralph and Posey. He is also survived by his sisters Claudia and Calli.

Wayne’s celebration of life will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with lunch and fellowship to follow.
