Diana Jo Dreyer
September 22, 1960 - October 14, 2021

Diana Jo Dreyer, 61, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota died peacefully on Thursday, October 14th, after an 18-month battle with Ovarian cancer. A visitation service will be held for friends and family on Monday, October 18th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Miller Funeral Home – Southside Chapel (7400 S Minnesota Ave), with family remarks at 1:30 pm. The family is accepting memorials to building a scholarship in Diana's name for women pursuing degrees in telecommunications. The family is requiring that all attendants wear masks while indoors and strongly encourages attendees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Diana Jo Dreyer, daughter of Don and Arlene Volk, was born September 22, 1960 in Glasgow, MT. Diana grew up in Atlantic, IA, with her parents and five siblings, where she attended Atlantic High School. Diana moved to Sioux Falls, SD in the early 1980s, where she remained to raise her three children - Scott, Amy, and Heather. She graduated with her teaching degree from Augustana University but instead Diana found a successful career in telecommunications, where she excelled in sales and grew a large network of women in telecom who became some of her closest mentors and friends.

Diana met her husband Tom in 2006 and wasted no time taking adventures and finding new passions. To the surprise of her children, Tom taught Diana to hunt, fish, and camp while taking her on trips to Canada, Mexico, and the beautiful Missouri River. After spending many years at their camper near Mobridge, SD and eating endless amounts of walleye, Diana and Tom bought their own lot and built a cabin together on Campbell Slough, near Waubay, SD. For two summers, Diana and Tom built the cabin of their dreams with their own hands – pouring concrete, clearing brush, and building the walls of a home that would bring many memories as a family. Diana especially loved visits from her grandchildren, and over the past few years her family has gathered at the lake for canoeing, kayaking, pontooning, fishing, and endless home-baked treats. During Diana's journey with cancer, the cabin has offered her family a place of solitude, relaxation, and joy. More than anything, Diana’s greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren as much as possible. She truly enjoyed her time teaching them to bake, playing board games, and indulging into their endless whims.

In April of 2020, Diana was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. She received top notch care and took every action possible to fight her disease. After intense surgery, multiple rounds of treatment, and second opinions, Diana's battle ended peacefully with her family by her side.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; three children, Scott (girlfriend - Margaret), Amy Worthington (Andy), and Heather (Austin) Krause; her step daughters, Chandra (Eric), Jaime (Brian), Hilary (Andrew), and Sarah; her grandchildren, Maxwell, August, Juniper, Larsen, Bryce, Hunter, Garrett, Matt, Jake, Alex, and Seth; and her great-grandchildren, Nova and Rydgelie.

Diana was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Volk; her mother-in-law, Charlotte Dryer; her grandmother, Thara Zgoda; and her uncle, Gene Colver.
