Valentina 1950-2023

Valentina Victor Skots (Dumansky)
May 20, 1950 - June 20, 2023

Valentina Victor Skots (Dumansky), 73, of Sioux Falls, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2023 due to a long battle with major complications from a injury.

Valentina was born May 20, 1950, to Victor and Emiliya Dumansky in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine. She was the third born of 11 children. She endured a life of hardship as a result of the Second World War. Her father was imprisoned falsely when she was only a few months old, resulting in her only meeting him for the first time when she was six years old. Their little family faced many hardships and extreme poverty during her father's incarceration.

Her passion was culinary arts and she took on the role of family cook fairly quickly and very proficiently, she was a great manager and fearless in defending anyone that was mistreated. After graduating high school and having no real possibility to get a higher education without joining the Communist party, she procured employment at a candy factory where due to her leadership skills she became a supervisor. After a while, she decided to try another path and switched to a job at a shoe-making factory, where she worked for several years. After this became tedious, she then acquired employment at a brick company as a head manager.

At all times Valentina's priority was her family, everything was for her children and husband. Family trips, special outings, and getting very difficult to find items in a socialist-run country. Because of this great love for her family and their future, for the religious freedom it affords, she agreed to move everyone to the USA in the year 1990.

Many people have benefited from Valentina's passion for what's right. She touched so many lives throughout her time on this earth. She took on the care of her grandchildren when her daughter Zhanna faced a newly single life. She gardened and shared with her family the bounty, she delighted her family with creations from her kitchen and most importantly she always prayed for the salvation of her loved ones. Her sense of humor and genuine love will be unimaginably missed by her family and friends.

Valentina is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Emiliya Dumansky, Sister Elvera Dumansky, brother Victor Dumansky, brother-in-law Valeri Chernyatinski and three little brothers, who passed in early childhood.

She is survived by her husband Anatoliy Skots, children Zhanna Ohanesyan and Andrey Skots, grandchildren: Patrick, Alik, and Areli, brother Gennadiy (Mariya) Dumanskiy, sister Stacy Gadeliya, brother William ( Jackie)Dimanskiy, sister-in-law Anne Dumansky, sister Irena Chernatinski, Nelli Ruzhitsky, numerous nieces and nephews and loyal dog Sheela.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Friday, June 23, 2023 at Sioux Falls First Church with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
