Wade W. Welding, beloved husband and father, after a courageous fight against Pulmonary Hypertension passed away on May 30, 2023, at Ava’s Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD, with his family by his side. He was 57.

Wade was born on June 26, 1965, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the son of the late Richard “Dick” Welding and Leafa (Torkelson) Welding. Wade was a 1984 graduate of North High School, continued his education at Morningside College and received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1989.

Wade lived in several communities in Minnesota and later moved to Sioux Falls. He was united in marriage to Lynee (Witkop) Welding on July 10, 1999, blending their older children into a family. Wade worked for Hy-Vee Food Stores, Inc. from 1995 to 2002, when he became completely disabled from Pulmonary Hypertension. Wade’s disability didn’t prevent him from being a wonderful and attentive father. Wade was a gifted golfer and enjoyed volunteering in the community. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi, Minnehaha Lodge #5, Prairie Hills Covenant Church, and the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Association. Wade loved his four-legged pals, namely his dog, Peanut Butter. Wade had an enormous love for his wife and family. His presence in their lives will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lynee’, daughters, KaSarah Welding, Sioux Falls, SD, Allyssa Welding, Sioux Falls, SD, Emily Welding, Sioux Falls, SD, and Julia Welding, Sioux Falls, SD; step son Joshua Gabel and his wife Hope, Sioux Falls, SD, and 4 grandchildren; sister, Wendy Land (Dave) of Minneapolis, MN; brothers: Chad Welding (Lucia), Dakota Dunes, SD; Matt Welding, Dallas, TX and Dr. Mark Welding Stephanie), Dallas, TX; and aunt, Marilyn Brown, Custer, SD, and several other family members.

Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Leafa Welding.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to the following organizations and staff members for the tender care given to Wade and the family: Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic of Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN; St. Mary’s Hospital; Sanford Hospice; McGreevy Clinic; and Avera Hospital.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00am Tuesday June 6, 2023, at Prairie Hills Covenant Church, 6000 E.33rd Street. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Monday evening at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue. A Masonic service will also take place at 6:00 that evening at the funeral home.
