Nancy Larsen
January 18, 1944 - June 11, 2023
Nancy Katherine Larsen, 79, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed from this life on Sunday, June 11, 2023.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 16, 2023 at St. Lambert’s Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. The visitation with family present to greet guests will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to fund SIDS research.
Nancy was born January 18, 1944 in Eureka, South Dakota to parents Ruben and Lenora Raile. She graduated from Eureka High School and completed some coursework at Northern State University in Aberdeen, before moving to Rapid City where her sister Elmae lived. It is in Rapid City that she met Hilary “Bill” Larsen. The two were united in marriage on September 16, 1967 in Rapid City and soon relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where their two daughters were born. They eventually settled and made their home in Aberdeen, South Dakota where Nancy worked for St. Luke’s hospital and eventually took over the accounting aspects of the family business, Larsen Asphalt. Nancy volunteered her time with La Sertoma Club and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. After 35 years in Aberdeen, they moved to Pierre, South Dakota and recently returned to Sioux Falls.
Nancy enjoyed life and knew how to make the most of it. Nancy loved music, savored a yummy meal, and enjoyed trying her luck at the casino. She and Bill loved to travel and while they took many exciting trips, their favorite times were spent at their oceanfront condo each winter in Port Aransas, Texas.
Nancy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family – no matter where, no matter what. From the simple things like sharing dinner, to watching her grandkids’ sports games, or taking them to the beach, Nancy treasured every moment with those she loved.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill Larsen; daughters, Rhonda Buntrock of Sioux Falls, SD and Jeri Graniewski of Lenexa, Kansas; grandchildren, Grace Graniewski, Lindsey Buntrock, Nick Graniewski, and Jessica Buntrock; great-granddaughter, Bexley; sister, Gwen Brenneman; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elmae Helfenstein and Ora Opp; brothers, Bruce Raile and Michael Raile; and granddaughter, Jacklyn Buntrock.
