Janet Klinkhammer
January 9, 1951 - May 3, 2022

Janet Klinkhammer, 71, of Tea, SD, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.

Janet Louise Larsen was born on January 9, 1951 at Viborg, SD, the daughter of Duane and Dagmar “Dottie” (Andersen) Larsen. She grew and attend school in Viborg and then graduated from Viborg High School in 1969. She went on to earn an accounting degree from Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls.

On August 28, 1971 she married Rick Klinkhammer in Viborg. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and then moved to Tea in 1979. Janet worked as an accountant for John Morrell and Co. for 11 years, did in home daycare and then worked at Pump and Pack. From there she worked in accounting for Sioux Printing and later worked for Sanford Health until retirement.

Janet was a member of Saint Nicolas Catholic Church in Tea. She loved music and was an accomplished trumpet player. She had played organ for the church and sang in the choir for many years. Janet enjoyed cross stitch, ceramics and was an outstanding cook. She was a skillful baker who made wedding cakes and specialty cakes for many occasions. After going to her first Minnesota Twin's baseball game, Janet became a devoted fan who would watch games on TV or listen on the radio. Her favorite times were taking her kids and grandchildren to Twin's games followed by shopping. Janet loved Christmas and Christmas decorating with Christmas trees in every room in the house. Most of all, Janet was a devoted wife and mother, who deeply loved her family.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Don Larsen.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Rick; children: Chris (Shaunna) Klinkhammer, Sioux Falls, Eric (Alisa) Klinkhammer, Sioux Falls, Carrie (Zach) Hoisington, Sioux Falls and Michelle (Mike) Sorensen, Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike (Becky) Larsen, Viborg and sister-in-law, Judy Larsen, Viborg, as well as host of other relatives and friends.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Tea with burial at a later date at St. Michael Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Visitation, also at St. Nicholas, with the family present, will be 5 to 7 p.m, Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
