Marko Minga
April 11, 1953 - November 20, 2022
Marko Minga, of Sioux Falls, passed over to the Lord on November 20th 2022 at Ava’s House hospice care after a long illness. He was 69.
Marko was born on April 11, 1953, in Croatia (Yugoslavia) to Ivan and Marija (Cavka) Minga. He lost his father at a young age and had a very hard life having to grow up fast. He started his first job very young at “Udarnik Drnis” company where he met his wife of 47 years Danica Lunic. They married in 1975 and welcomed their first child Marina the following year. Their son Ivica was born a year later and Zeljka and Danijela over the next 4 years. Marko also became a grandfather at a young age. He was 41 when his first grandson Slobodan was born. After the war which lasted 4 years, he was forced to leave his home in Croatia which he and Danica built while raising their 4 children. Serbia welcomed his family where they lived for almost 2 years before they moved to the United States and came straight to Sioux Falls, South Dakota (1997).
Upon arriving in Sioux Falls, Marko immediately started working at Creative Surfaces and remained working there until he fell sick in 2017. He welcomed 7 more grandchildren in Sioux Falls and was a loving grandpa to all of them. He was very proud of all of them.
Family was always the most important thing in the world to him and he loved his family more than anything.
Grateful for having shared his life are his beloved wife Danica Minga, daughter Marina (Stevo) Vukasin, son Ivica (Dragana) Minga, daughter Zeljka (Raju) Sinha, daughter Danijela (Sasa) Todorovic, loving grandchildren, Slobodan, Kavita, Aleksandar, Tanja, Zarko, Marko, Viktor and Katarina, and many other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two sisters.
Family will greet friends beginning at 11 AM Wednesday November 23, 2022 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1600 S. Marion Road, with a funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery on 26th and Cliff Ave. A luncheon will follow the burial at St. Michael's church.
