Jamie "Lurch" Mohr
July 3, 1960 - January 9, 2020

Sioux Falls, SD ~ Jamie “Lurch” Allen Mohr, age 59, died on Thursday, January 9, 2020 after a courageous six-month battle with kidney cancer. A memorial visitation celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Jamie Mohr was born on July 3, 1960 in Luverne, MN to Robert and Phyllis (Petersen) Mohr. He spent the first ten years of his life living on a farm across the road from his grandparents, where he developed a love for the outdoors and a strong work ethic. His family then moved to Hardwick, MN while Jamie attended school in Luverne and then graduating from Luverne High School in 1978. Following high school Jamie began his over forty-two-year career working for MidAmerican Energy Company in Sioux Falls, SD.

On June 19, 1993, Jamie was united in marriage with Theresa Kafka-Button and her nine-year old son, Jacob, in Yankton, SD. The family lived in Luverne until 2004 when they made their home in Sioux Falls, SD.

Jamie was blessed with a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He enjoyed making people laugh, playing jokes on his friends and family, and changing lyrics to popular songs. He loved spending time on the farm; especially during harvest season; cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, playing cribbage and pinochle, listening to NPR radio programs, fishing, craft beer, gas station cookies, dark chocolate and his dogs. Above all Jamie loved his family, traveling with Theresa all over the united states and visiting their favorite lighthouse in Duluth, MN, and his father/son camp outs with Jake. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Theresa Mohr of Sioux Falls, SD; one son, Jacob Button of Kansas City, MO; his mother, Phyllis Mohr of Luverne, MN; two sisters, Valerie Klumper and her husband, Clayton of Pipestone, MN and Felicia Hanson and her husband, Jack of Luverne, MN; mother-in-law, Delores Kafka of Yankton, SD; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Robert Mohr; father-in-law, William T. Kafka; and his grandparents, Merten & Mattie Petersen and Marie Mohr.
