Sharon Faye Becker
July 7, 1951 - July 21, 2021
Sharon Faye (Doeksen) Becker, 70, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021, in her home surrounded by family. Sharon was born in Luverne, MN, on July 7, 1951 to Peter and Alma Doeksen. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1969. In 1970, she married Daniel Becker and they were blessed with one daughter, Jill Christine. They made their home in various locations throughout their marriage and after 15 years of marriage Dan and Sharon divorced.
Sharon and Jill began their new life together. As she strived for a better life for them, Sharon pursued her associate’s degree from the University of South Dakota, graduating in 1993. Sharon loved her new profession and continued with dental hygiene for 20 plus years prior to her retirement.
Sharon was a beautiful woman with big dark brown eyes and a quiet presence. She would never pass on a hug from family or friends. She enjoyed shopping, decorating, painting and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and would do anything for them. Not only was Sharon an amazing grandmother, she was a devoted mother, mother in law, loving sister, sister in law, caring aunt and loyal friend.
Sharon will always be missed by those that loved her. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and family, Jill and Shawn Schmidt; grandchildren Kaleigh, Samuel and William Schmidt, all of Sioux Falls, SD; her brother Donald Doeksen of St. Paul, MN; sisters, Patricia (Garlan) Hulbert of Princeton, MN; Linda (Robert) Christensen of Sioux Falls, SD; Diane (Kevin) Erickson of Rochester, MN; Jodi (Gary) Messerich of Eagan, MN; dear friend Lin (David) Starks of Sioux Falls, SD; and many special friends, nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Alma Doeksen, her great niece, Lynn Zimmer and her nephew, Derek Christensen.
A celebration of her life will be at Celebrate Church, 1000 S Sycamore Ave, Sioux Falls, SD, 57110, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 11:00 am. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service.
