Miranda Lynn Jacobs
December 9, 1985 - September 7, 2022

Miranda Lynn (Ankeny) Jacobs passed away at home after a courageous 5-year battle with brain cancer. Miranda was born in Robbinsdale, MN on December 9, 1985 to Rick & Carol Ankeny and joined a big brother, Shawn. The family moved to Hartford, SD in 1990. Miranda attended West Central School and received her GED in 2006. She met her husband Chris in 2006 and became a mother to son, Jaiden in 2007 and later to daughter Liberty in 2010. Miranda and Chris were married on March 7, 2013, in Las Vegas, NV. They then completed their family with youngest daughter Evelyn being born in 2014. They made their home in Sioux Falls, SD.

Miranda worked in various retail positions in Sioux Falls, making many friends along the way. Miranda always wanted to be a nurse and started to attend school for nursing. But her focus was her family and she realized that was more important to her, so she put that on hold. Shortly after, she started to experience health issues. After her wedding and before the birth of Evelyn, Miranda had her first stint with cancer. She battled through it and returned to a normal life. But her cancer returned a few years later and she battled it courageously up to the day of her passing. Miranda lived life to its fullest and never wanted anyone to treat her differently; instead, she always sought to help whenever anyone needed it. She would never miss her kids’ events and could be seen cheering from the sidelines in her loudest mom voice. She was so proud of her kids and all their accomplishments and loved to gush about them to everyone.

This past year was full of great moments. Her and Chris found their forever home and she was extremely proud of making it a great place for her family. You could often find her outside on her hammock or inside watching a murder mystery podcast. She loved animals and could often be found with one of her kitties or her dog relaxing with her. Her brother Shawn and Brooke adopted their son MJ this past year and she became a proud Aunty. She loved him as her own and spent many days caring for him. She said that one of her greatest moments in life was being at his official adoption on Aug 1st of this year. Miranda also loved to travel and seeing new places. The family took a trip to Houston, TX a couple years ago and would often talk about how much it meant to her. She also loved visiting her family in northern Minnesota, she often would remind Chris that she was a Minnesota girl at heart.

Miranda is lovingly remembered by husband Chris, Son Jaiden, Daughters Liberty and Evelyn. Her parents Rick and Carol Ankeny of Hartford, SD. Brother Shawn and Sister-in-law Brooke Ankeny and Son MJ of Newcastle, WY. Father and Mother-in-law Paul and Gail Jacobs Aberdeen, SD. Sister in-law Amanda and husband Jeremy Marsh Pierre, SD. Brother-in-law Chase Jacobs Aberdeen, SD. Her aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her Aunt Linda Schwagel.

Funeral services for Miranda will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Visitation, with family present, will be from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
