Jana Ann Lovrien
July 2, 1963 - May 21, 2022

Jana Ann Munson was born July 2, 1963, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Wesley “Gary” and Janice (Rollag) Munson.

She attended Sioux Falls public schools and West Lyon, Inwood, Iowa. Jana was a natural athlete and excelled in track and field. She graduated from West Lyon High School in 1981. She would have her beloved sons Adam (1982) and Sam (1992). Jana was an amazing 'Baseball Mom'...like a 'soccer Mom', but cooler. Spending countless hours supporting, fundraising, and traveling for America's Pastime. In 1993, she earned a degree in respiratory therapy and would start a 28-year career with Sanford Health.

On September 8, 2012, she was united in marriage with Justin Lovrien in Valley Springs, SD. The two resided in their home outside of Valley Springs until her death. They shared the home with dogs, goats, chickens and various other animals over the years. Her favorite activity after work was to walk the gardens with the dogs and every evening possible, she would watch sunsets on the porch.

Jana was a member of Celebration United Methodist Church of Brandon, SD and loved preparing meals for mission projects. Serving at the Banquet and cooking for the Night Watch Outreach program were favorite service projects. She also was a strong supporter of the Brandon Food Pantry.

Jana and Justin enjoyed being together, rarely spending a night apart during their marriage. They had many hobbies, but travel was a particular love. In their years of marriage, they drove to the Artic Circle, visited the wonderful country of Ghana, hiked in Belize, fished Alaska and loved many family trips to the Dominican Republic. They also enjoyed fishing, spending most summer weekends fishing somewhere in the region. Jana liked playing racquetball and volleyball. She cherished spending time with her two grandchildren, Charlotte and Calvin. Jana had a particular love of animals, from her 170-lb Dane Toby to her miniature dachshund Ruby, and many, many animals in between.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Justin Lovrien, Valley Springs, SD; sons, Adam (Bethany) Schroeder, Brandon, SD, Sam Schroeder, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Charlotte and Calvin Schroeder, Brandon, SD; mother and step-father, Jan and Ed Baatz, Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Jenelle (Karl) Koball, Sioux Falls, SD, Sara (Jeremiah) Paige, Scottsdale, AZ; her in-laws, the Lovrien family; and her aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Munson, and her grandparents.
