Howard Scott
June 12, 1921 - October 31, 2022
Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, November 14, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.
Howard Lloyd Scott, 101, passed away peacefully on October 31,2022 in Mesa, Arizona.
Howard Scott was born June 12, 1921 the son of Andrew and Sena Scott. He grew up near Davis, SD attending school in a one building school graduating in 1939. Howard served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942 till 1945. Howard married Audrey Yager on August 5, 1946; they were blessed with three sons, Craig, Brad, and Darrell.
Howard farmed near Davis from 1946 till 1960 when they (Howard, Audrey, Craig and Brad) moved to Sioux Falls. Howard worked at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital as a Nursing Assistant until he retired on his birthday in 1987. Howard enjoyed many friendships at work and was affectionately called “Scotty” by his coworkers and patients. Howard’s life was full of family time with his wife Audrey of 61 years always by his side. Howard spent time with his sons and eventually grandchildren & great grandchildren. His kids lived in various parts of the US, Craig provided adventures in the Midwest and East Coast, Brad in Utah and Arizona and Darrell in Utah and Oregon. Howard’s family time extended to his or Audrey’s siblings and many nieces and nephews who he loved to spend time with and is documented for us through his relentless picture taking at many family event. Howard and Audrey made it to all 50 states during their retirement, traveling and seeing family was their greatest joy. In 2009 after Audrey’s passing Howard moved to Mesa, Arizona for warmer weather and to be near family.
Howard will be missed by his sons Craig (Marylou), Brad (Chloe) and Darrell. grandchildren: Joshua (Jarrett Ransom), Adam, Sarah (Scott) Herold, Kita (Justin) Bogatch, Tanner (Stephanie), and Taylor and great grandchildren: Kennedy, Tanner, Lucas, Alex, Leah, Etta, Nolan and Adam. He will also be missed by his sisters Lois Peterson and Phyllis Haroldson, and many nieces and nephews.
