Kimberly Jones
September 3, 1962 - November 1, 2022

Kimberly "Kim" Jones, 60, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at Dougherty Hospice on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

Kimberly Jones maiden name Kimberly Bradfield known to many as Kim, was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was born on September 3, 1962 to her father, Raymond Bradfield Sr. (from Fargo, Mississippi) and mother Irene Josephine Bradfield (born in New Orleans).

Kim attended school in the New Orleans School District and graduated in May of 1980. She then attended college and completed 2 years of Bryman Community College for medical assistance. Her time was cut short due to the declining health of her Father. Thus, beginning her lifelong role of caring for others where she then got a job working primarily for Dr. Simmons Clinic in New Orleans.

Abruptly, in 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit and the devastation created the need for Kim and her children to relocate. She decided to move to the Midwest with her three children: Darrion, Jordan, and India, where she continued her career in healthcare at Sioux Valley Hospital (Sanford) in the outpatient dialysis unit as a dialysis technician. Kim later changed jobs and went to Avera Mckennan Hospital in 2010, as a patient care technician on the Cardio/Pulmonary Unit. Kim worked diligently at Avera for 10 years where she made countless friendships and memories. Her plan to continue working until retirement was unexpectedly brought to a halt due to the return chronic illness she had triumphed over in the past.

Kim’s pride and joy was unequalivically her three children and she made sure to play a major role within their lives. She would enjoy watching them in their activities or sports throughout their school years and into adulthood. As a family they enjoyed going out to eat, attending movies, going the park, and trips to shop together at the mall. Before long it became difficult for Kim to go to these places in person, as her health declined, so her family did their best to bring the experiences home.

In her spare time Kim would love to read for hours on end, from autobiographies of her favorite celebrities, to the latest magazines depicting what’s going on in the world. These are just a few aspects of Kim’s life that we can use to describe her; but does not give her unique personality justice and elude to her complex individualism, few know of “Priscilla”.

She is survived by her children: Darrion Jones, Jordan Jones and India Bradfield.

Visitation will take place, with family present, at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. A private funeral for Kim's family will take place at Heritage Funeral Home on the morning of Friday, November 4, 2022, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Please wear Prince related attire or purple clothing as Kim was an avid fan of Prince. In lieu of flowers, you can contact Sheila Finch at 605-310-0741 or email Sheila at fourfinches@hotmail.com for information on how you can support the family.
