MRS. DENA DOYLE DIES AT LOCAL HOSPITAL SATURDAY
Mrs. Dena Doyle, 77, died at the Flandreau Municipal hospital Saturday, March 23. She had been hospitalized about 15 days terminating an illness of nearly two years. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 27, from Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic church, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Felix McCabe officiating.
Dena Hermanda Larson, daughter of James and Gertrude Larson, was born April 8, 1885, in Freemont Township, Moody County. She was educated in the rural schools of this county, and lived with her parents until her marriage to Peter Doyle on September 27, 1903. She lived with her husband on a farm northwest of Flandreau, until 1938 when they retired and moved into Flandreau. Her husband died in 1944.
She is survived by 12 children; Joseph, Flandreau; Mathew, Sacramento, Calif.; Arthur, Chicago; George, Flandreau; Daniel, Rapid City; David, Flandreau; Mrs. Albin Erickson (Dorothy), Flandreau; Vernon, Flandreau; Ernest, Flandreau; Howard, Seattle, Wash.; Glenn, Flandreau, and Wesley, Seattle, Wash. Three brothers; Carl Larson, Colman; Alfred Larson and Ben Larson, Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Leo and James, and two sisters and two brothers.
She was a member of the Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary.
Honorary pallbearers were; A.M. McGlone, Francis Ahern, Frank Kinney, Carroll Ellongson, Gerhard Luttman and Conrad Gulbranson.
Active pallbearers were; Dale Erickson, Gary Foyle, Kenneth Doyle, Arnold Doyle, Donald Birnbaum and Vernon Bechen.
Interment was in the Flandreau Catholic Cemetery.
