Shirley Lloyd
December 3, 1940 - January 11, 2022
Shirley Jane (Rands) Lloyd, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 11,2022. She was born December 3, 1940 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Charles and Lulu (Schroeder) Rands. She grew up in Alexandria, South Dakota and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1958. Following graduation, she worked as a receptionist under superintendent Harvin Oorlog. Later she worked in a variety of positions in the medical field. She also did some work in child care as well as telemarketing.
Shirley married Robert Lloyd on April 6,1968 in Onida, South Dakota. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Vicky in May of 1970 and Robin following a short 17 ½ months later in November of 1971.
She later married William Norman of Luverne, Minnesota.
Shirley most enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether they were watching football (Go Vikings!), playing cards, cornhole, BBQing, she’d even shoot a few hoops with everyone when she was still able. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to tractor pulls, crocheting, knitting, plastic canvas, church activities such as teaching Sunday school, bible school, singing in the choir, joining bible studies and greeting on Sunday morning.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters, Vicky (Mike) Townsend, Robin Sutherland (Jimmy Neuman); grandchildren, Nicole (Rob) Wenzel, Cory Sutherland, Brandie Richters (Patrick Boustead), Brittany Richters (Matt Billet), Tyler (Kelsi) Townsend. Alyx and Tanner Sutherland, Noah, Angel, Harmony, and Kinley Townsend; great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Quintten, Maycee, Ariel, Lily, Rhyder, Jocelynn, Bob, Brianna and Briella. Siblings, Dorothy Hoscheid, Roger (Kathy) Rands, Richard Rands, and Charla (Alvin) Hamaker; and many, many other friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Patricia Rands; brother-in-law, Robert Hoscheid; two grandchildren, Nicholas Sutherland, Tayler Townsend; great-granddaughter, Chemaro Haiar-Sutherland and her beloved Donald Veneklasen.
Shirley’s daughters would like to express their sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses and staff at Avera Dialysis over the years for all of their kindness, love, compassion and care of their mom. Special thanks to the late Dr. Edward Zawada.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 on Sunday January 16, with the family present from 2-4 at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 South Minnesota Ave. (81st and Minnesota Ave.)
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2022 at Miller Southside Chapel, Sioux Falls, SD with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. After the funeral there will a gathering for Shirley’s family and friends at the funeral home.
