Lillian M. Watne, 68, of 904 E. First St., died Friday, Sept. 3, 1993, at McKennan Hospital.
Lillian Strasser was born Nov. 12, 1924, at Fairview where she grew up and received her education. She attended her senior year of high school at Washington High in Sioux Falls, graduating in 1942. She attended St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota. She worked for Western Union in Milwaukee, Wis. She married Leon Watne on Aug. 11, 1946, at Fairview. She worked for a short time for International Harvester Co. in Sioux Falls.
She was active in the Christian Women’s Organization where she served as an officer. She was a member of Concerned Women of America, Eagle Forum, and the Gideon Auxiliary. She was a hunter and was the first women in the state to obtain an elk license in Custer State Park.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Burl and his wife, Nancy, Sioux Falls; a daughter, Pamela Watne, Omaha, Neb.; a grandson; a brother, Joel E. Strasser, Sioux Falls; and two sisters: Almarie Ingebrigtson, Fairview; and Joan Stubbs, Alcester.
Services will begin at 2 pm Tuesday at Central Baptist Church, with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
Visitation will begin at 8 am today at Miller Funeral Home, with the family present from 7 to 9 pm Monday.
