Janice, known to her friends and family as Jan, mom, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, grandma, great grandma, and friend was born on March 9, 1930 to Abe and Ethel (Peg) Johnson. She grew up in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated from Washington High School in 1948. She married her lifelong friend, Bob Pfeifer, on November 24, 1950. To this union they had one daughter Nancy and one son Jim. She attended Hamline University and Augustana College, where she majored in music. She shared her love of the arts through piano lessons, calligraphy, leading the St Andrew all boy bell choir, creating stained glass masterpieces and creating photo memory books for all of her grandchildren.

In addition to the arts, Jan enjoyed bridge, knitting, playing golf, cheering on her grandkids, church, her membership in PEO chapter AQ, fishing, shopping for antiques, practical jokes, designing and remodeling numerous homes and cabins.

Jan entertained friends and family in her last few years through her piano playing as a member of the Rose Room Trio at Dow Rummel. One of the families’ fondest memories includes birthday calls where she would play the piano and sing, with Bob to honor their birthdays.

Our family is grateful for the loving care Jan received at Dow Rummel Village and Sanford Hospital. The memories and thoughts shared are helping to bring our family peace during this time.
