Beverly Ann Lamp
October 7, 1940 - January 22, 2022

Beverly Ann Lamp passed away peacefully at Sanford USD Medical Center on Saturday, January 22, 2022. She went to be with her Lord after 81 years of life. The family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday January 25, 2022 at Miller Funeral Home 507 S. Main Ave. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM Wednesday January 26, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Bev was born on October 7, 1940 in rural Irene, South Dakota to Fred and Myrtle Swensen. Following high school, she attended Nettleton Business College before working at Barkley Insurance Company. She met Roger Lamp at the Arkota Ballroom in 1960 and they were married December 17, 1961 at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Irene. The couple moved to Sioux Falls and welcomed their first child, Tracey in 1963, with Brian arriving in 1967. Bev and Roger built a home outside of Sioux Falls in 1970 and have remained there since, watching the city grow around them.

Bev enjoyed being with family and friends, knitting, crocheting, camping, traveling, and making malts for her grandchildren. Bev and Roger have been members at First Lutheran Church since 1962. Bev spent many years doing the bulletins for the church. She, alongside Roger, worked The Banquet for 20 years. They also made Lenten meals for 10 years and helped with the Bazaars for First Lutheran.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter.

Bev is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Roger, son Brian Lamp (Amy) and their children Jacob Lamp (Ashley), Nathan Lamp (Katelyn), Sarah Lamp (Yacento Scott), Jennifer Lamp; Tracey’s widower Bob Thorstensen (Margy) and their children Kyle Thorstenson (Ahsja), Kory Thorstenson (Aspen), Daytona Thorstensen and Sarah Thorstensen; great grandchildren Griffin Lamp and Aleigh Pavone; sister Shirley Gortmaker, nephew Chad Gortmaker (Tammy) along with Keck and Sawyer, niece Val Gortmaker (Ellen Maddock) and a host of cherished friends and family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 25 from 5-7 pm at Miller Funeral Home. Funeral will be Wednesday, January 26 at 1:30 pm at First Lutheran Church with fellowship at the church following internment at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to The Banquet or First Lutheran Church Media Ministry.
