October 30, 1935 - February 14, 2022
Joyce Leichtman, 86, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Sanford/USD Medical Center.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 18, at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD with burial by her husband, John, at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, February 17 at the funeral home.
Joyce Elaine McCloud, daughter of Vern and Winifred (Speers) McCloud, was born October 30, 1935 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she graduated from Washington High School in 1953.
Joyce was united in marriage with John Leichtman Jr. on February 28, 1954 in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived on the Leichtman family farm for many years. Joyce loved being a farm wife and helped with chores and making a home. She worked at Sencore, Ravens and at the Sioux Falls Care Center as a cook for several years. She worked clerical at Retailer’s National Bank where she retired.
They enjoyed auctions and she really loved to read. She was a collector of many things, liked flowers and animals. She was a great seamstress and wonderful cook. They moved to Crooks, SD around 2000, and John passed away in 2002 she later moved to Sioux Falls, SD.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Diane Fillipi, Fayetteville, TN, Joanne (Tom) Tallant, Arvada, CO, Lois (Doug) Elcock, Flandreau, SD, Janet (Kirk) Shipley, Urbandale, IA, John K. Leichtman (fiancé, Dee Robinson), Sioux Falls, SD Barbara (Kyle) Johnson, Flandreau, SD; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Carol (Dennis) Meyers, Dodge, NE and Linda (Don) Larson, Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a son, Charles John Leichtman; a sister Lorraine Pitts; and a son-in-law, Michael Fillipi.
