Kristy Ann Zuraff
November 15, 1957 - June 28, 2021

Kristy Zuraff, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at Mercy One Hospital in Mason City, Iowa. She was 63.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Friday, July 2, 2021, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. The family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 Thursday evening at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service.

Kristy Ann Olson, daughter of Danny and Helen (Stoen) Olson, was born November 15, 1957, in Sioux Falls, SD. Family was always a top priority for Kristy. When she was younger, her family would gather for a reunion in Decorah, IA annually. They would gather at the Johnson Farm and participate in horse shows, where Kristy and her cousins were known for their trick riding.

Kristy attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD, where she met her high school sweetheart, Paul Zuraff. This is where life truly seemed to begin for the couple. They both graduated high school in 1976, and married November 27, 1976.
During their first year of marriage, the couple lived in Rapid City, SD, but then chose to move back to Sioux Falls, SD, where Kristy worked at Quest as a directory and customer service operator for 30 years. It was during this time when Kristy and Paul welcomed two beloved sons into their life.

After Kristy retired from Quest, she found her true calling with First Lutheran Church as an assistant administrator. She went above and beyond for everyone who walked through the church doors. Kristy poured her heart into volunteering with the First Lutheran Sunday School program, the Sioux Falls School District, and Salvation Army. She was the union steward for the Labor Temple for a number of years and active with the Telephone Pioneers, helping pave the way for workers’ rights and technological advancement in her community.

With family still being her number one priority, Kristy became heavily involved with her sons’ baseball teams as one of the first Sioux Empire Baseball Association League commissioners. Kristy was able to meet all kinds of famous baseball players while travelling all over the United States with her dad, sportscaster and local legend, Danny Olson.

When Kristy wasn’t working or volunteering, she loved spending time outdoors with her family. She enjoyed camping and reading, and had a particular fondness for bass fishing. Kristy was truly selfless and had immeasurable room in her heart to care for others. It was during these special moments with her family when she experienced that same love in return.

Kristy is survived by her husband, Paul Zuraff of Sioux Falls, SD; her children, Joshua (Janna Swords and her son Kayden Kroupa) Zuraff, and Shawn Zuraff of Sioux Falls, SD; her brothers, Scott Olson of Vadnais Heights, MN, and Terry Olson of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Brielle, Grace, and Zachary Zuraff; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

Kristy is preceded in death by her parents, Danny and Helen (Stoen) Olson.
