Thomas Wayne (Peterson) Brooks, son of Vernon and Joan Peterson, was born July 27, 1958. He was adopted by Art and Verna Brooks. Tom grew up in the Brookings, SD area where he attended Brookings High School. Following high school, he spent two years attending the University of South Dakota.

Tom was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend to everyone he met. He went home to be with the Lord in the early afternoon of Saturday, October 6, 2018 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Tom was united in marriage with Sharon Ann Potter in Creighton, NE on May 5, 1979. They were blessed with 3 children, Jason, Mariah and Ali.

Tom worked for Campbell Supply, which he turned into a lifetime career. He started off as a delivery driver and worked his way up, currently serving as the CEO. Tom loved taking care of “his people” and he considered them all family. He did many promotions over the years with Campbells, including Ribfest, Festival of Trees, pork feeds, car shows, Circus Days and numerous other events. Whatever promotion he was working on, his family was included and it became a family affair.

In addition to his career with Campbells, Tom was a man of many talents. He was a Cub Scout leader, a basketball coach and a softball coach for his son. For his daughters, his talent switched to building sets for plays and loading trailers with band instruments. Tom was always involved in his childrens’ lives.

In his free time, Tom loved to fish. Nothing fed his soul more than sitting out on the dock with a fishing pole in hand.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sharon; three children, Jason Brooks and his wife, Jamiey, Sioux Falls, SD, Mariah Kortleever, Sioux Falls, SD, Ali Brooks, Sioux Falls, SD; a son-in-law, Nate Kortleever, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Lilly Brooks, Liam Brooks, Zella Kortleever, Adelyn Brooks; two brothers, David Peterson and his wife, Debbie, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, James Peterson, Benson, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
