June 11, 1926 ~ March 29, 2012 (age 85)
The Funeral Service for June Nelson will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kahler Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery of rural Dell Rapids. Visitation for Mrs. Nelson will be two hours prior to the service at Kahler Funeral Home.
June Helen Swanson was born on June 11, 1926 in Dell Rapids, the daughter of Paul and Libbie (Mork) Swanson. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school and Trent High School, graduating 1944. She worked at Morrell's Packing Plant with her sister, Fern for three years before she married Richard Nelson on February 16, 1947in the Baptist Church in Dell Rapids.They had a double wedding with her sister Fern. They made their home in the country on the Nelson Farm where she and Richard raised their four sons. Richard and June moved into Trent in 1978. They have resided in the same home since then.
June passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 in the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center. She was 85. June was preceded in death by her two brothers, Marvin and Warren.
June loved to cook and garden. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family.
June is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard of Trent; her four sons, Dick (Kathy) of Artesian, Randy of Trent, Steven of Luverne, MN, and Philip of Trent; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Fern Herbst of Sioux City; and two sisters-in-law, Irene Sager and Fern Tolly; and many nieces and nephews.
