Helen McQuisten, 70 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Sanford Medical Center.

Helen Marie LeBeau, daughter of Willard and Edna (Hanson) LeBeau, was born on October 2, 1946, in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls and received her education, graduating from Washington High School.

Helen was united in marriage with Kenneth McQuisten on January 18, 1964, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. While Kenneth served in the Army the family moved to Georgia and Arizona. After Kenneth graduated college the family lived in Brookings, SD, Omaha, NE, St. Louis, MO, Sioux Center, IA, and then settled in Sioux Falls. Helen worked in Sioux Falls for the University Center and with CASA.

Helen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and participated in church food giveaways and many retreats. She volunteered at Pettigrew Elementary, spent time sewing, and enjoyed working on her memory books. She enjoyed travelling and spent winters in Florida. Friendly and welcoming, she loved to take care of others and let you know you were loved. She cherished time spent with her miniature Dachshund Shelby, her family, and attending her grandchildren’ s activities.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Kenneth McQuisten, Sioux Falls, SD; sons Paul (Karen) McQuisten, Sioux Falls, SD, Matthew (Beth) McQuisten, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Melissa (Tim) Konda, Sioux Falls, SD; mother Edna Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren Roger McQuisten, Sioux Falls, SD, Tiffany (Alec) McQuisten, Sioux Falls, SD, Alexis Konda, Sioux Falls, SD, Jackson Konda, Sioux Falls, SD, Sarah Lehmann, Sioux Falls, SD, Zachary Lehmann, Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law Marcia Jensen, Omaha, NE; brothers-in-law Jim (Donna) McQuisten, Sioux Falls, SD, Dave McQuisten, Yuma, CO, Tom McQuisten, Sioux Falls, SD; and many other relatives and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her father Willard LeBeau; step-father Trygve Johnson; grandparents Helen and Winfred LeBeau, Edward and Amelia Hanson; brothers Bill LeBeau and Ed LeBeau; and sister-in-law Karen McQuisten.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Peace Lutheran Church Neighborhood Necessities.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 West 41st Street. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church.
