Karen Lee Lovro
June 13, 1955 - September 2, 2021
Karen Lee Lovro, our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away after a brief illness on September 2, 2021 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 66.
She grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated from Lincoln High School. She then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Karen married Craig Lovro and they made their home in Yankton, South Dakota, before moving back to Sioux Falls. In addition to being a loving homemaker and mother, Karen worked at various administrative jobs and eventually retiring from A-OK Sanitary Service.
Her interests included golf, tennis, trips to the lake and Arizona, and ball games, to list a few, but her life was centered around her 6 cherished grandchildren, family and lifelong friends. Her smile, humor and laugh never left her.
Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Eric (Jen) Lovro and Brett (Nicole) Lovro both of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Cole, Brynja, Gavin, Noa, Wilder and Shepherd all of Sioux Falls; sister, Debbie (Marv) Lovro of Sioux Falls; nieces, Beth Lovro (Brian Hillstead), Missy (Pat) Simpson and Kim (Tim “Chuck” Van Engen) Scott; nephews, Brian Lovro and Josh (Jessy) Scott; stepmother, Ann Young of Bella Vista, AR; stepbrother, Rob Witt (Jackie) of Bella Vista, AR; sister-in-law, Carol (Dwight) Scott; and special friends, Jan Eisenberg (Ike) of Sioux Falls and Deb Zuraff (Dan) of Sioux City, IA.
She was preceded in death by parents Betty and Durand Young.
Funeral services begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday September 7, 2021 at Miller Funeral Home 507 S. Main Ave. with private family burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from noon until service time on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Sioux Falls Humane Society or the El Riad Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund.
