Kori Jo Oberembt
June 01, 1973 - January 30, 2021
Kori Jo Oberembt, 47, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away on January 30, 2021. Private memorial services were held at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation to the Sioux Falls Humane Society.
Kori Peterson, daughter of Reno Peterson and Connie (Baird) Peterson, was born June 1, 1973, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and was raised in the West Sioux neighborhood. She graduated from the old Washington High School in 1991. She worked for Minerva’s from 1990 to 2006 and still had many dear friends from her time there. She got married to Todd Morrison and gave birth to Travis in 1998. Travis was her pride and joy, especially when it came to his musical talent. In 2006, Kori started doing accounting for Bracco and later for more stores, including Spezia, as they grew. She was currently doing accounting work at Stan Houston Equipment and loved the peeps there. She was united in marriage to Troy Oberembt in 2002. Kori and Troy loved to cook, watch Jeopardy and vacation together.
Kori was a vocal advocate for all animals in the Sioux Falls area. She was dedicated to helping owners find lost pets and other local pet endeavors. She especially loved her dogs: Joby, Julie, and Josephine. Above all she was a great mom, daughter, friend, and loving wife.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Troy of Sioux Falls; son, Travis Morrison of Sioux Falls; step-daughter, Calli (Emily) Oberembt of St. Paul, MN; mom, Connie Peterson of Sioux Falls; half-brother, Keith Peterson of Omaha, NE; step mom, Viola Peterson of Texas; niece, Kari Taylor; and nephew, Blake Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Reno Peterson; and brother, Kevin Peterson.
