Gary Lee Woessner
April 28, 1949 - November 06, 2020
Gary Woessner, Sioux Falls, SD, died Friday, November 6, 2020, at Sanford USD Medical Center. He was 71.
Gary Woessner was born April 28, 1949 in Sioux Falls, SD to Harold and Lavina (Briese) Woessner. Gary graduated from Hartford High School.
On August 5, 1967 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Thein at Ellis United Methodist Church. Gary and Cindy raised their four children and made their home in the rural Sioux Falls area.
Gary worked at Kolman Athey for many years until the plant moved to North Carolina. Gary and Cindy also owned and operated the Safeway Clover Farm store and the Clover Inn Café. Gary also worked at Egger Steel, Covington Heights and managed maintenance at Southeast Tech apartments before retiring in 2012. In his retirement Gary enjoyed woodworking and making many different crafts and yard games.
Gary enjoyed showing classic cars in various car shows. If you were looking for Gary you could almost always find him in his garage either tinkering with cars, fixing various items or woodworking. Cindy and Gary traveled often to craft shows all over the region even traveling as far as Colorado to sell their crafts that they made together. They enjoyed an evening of bingo or playing pinochle. Gary and Cindy took many bus trips including to Washington DC and Mackinaw Island. Gary was always quick with a joke and had an infectious laugh.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, mother and Junior his brother.
Gary leaves behind his loving wife along with his son Terry (Marla) Woessner, and daughters Sheila (James) Kidd, Wanda Kettelman, Nicole (Tyler) Soria. Thankful to have shared Gary’s life are his brother Raymond (Marty) Woessner and step brother Vaugh (Josephine) Meyer. In addition, Gary leaves behind twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street in Sioux Falls. The family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
