Raymond Arthur Bogenhagen, age 91, of Dell Rapids, SD died peacefully June 4, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Pipestone, MN.

Ray was born at home on April 13, 1928 in White Lake, SD and was the youngest son of Edward and Anna (Kiehn) Bogenhagen. He attended grade school in rural White Lake, SD thru the 8th grade. Ray then worked on the farm with his father until 1953 at which time he rented his own farm near White Lake, SD. until he married.

On June 13, 1954, Raymond was united in marriage to Wilma (Gerlach). They were blessed with 5 daughters. They continued to farm until 1984 when Ray and Wilma moved to Dell Rapids, SD. At that time, Ray started a new career as a maintenance worker at Electronics Systems Inc. (ESI) in Sioux Falls, SD and remained working there until his 80th birthday.

Ray enjoyed farming. He was an excellent wood craftsman and made many craft items for his family, friends and church. Ray combined his love of farming with his woodworking skills and created a complete replica of his farm house and farm buildings along with handmade farm equipment which are now on display at the Dell Rapids Historical Museum.

Ray had an unfailing faith to serve his Lord. With his woodworking skills he made Jesus fish to the homeless and Homebound and to some missions in 3rd world countries. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls for the past 20 plus years where he served as a Trustee for several years. In addition to his love of farming and wood crafting, Ray often enjoyed fishing.

Ray is survived by his wife Wilma of 65 years, and his 5 daughters. Norma (Richard) Ingalls, Colorado Springs, CO; Nancy (Kenny) Scheidt, Luverne, MN; Marcia (Michael) Foret, Colorado Springs, CO; Betty Bogenhagen, Sioux Falls, SD and Sue Torney, Cheyenne WY. 6 grandchildren, Adam Ingalls, Elizabeth Scheidt, Kristen Scheidt, Ryan Hanscom, Sarah Torney, and Leah Torney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ray is proceeded in death by his parents; 6 sisters and 5 brothers.

Visitation will be from 5-7 Thursday evening at the Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue, with the service at 10:30am on Friday, June 7th at Faith Lutheran Church.
