Joan Loree VanDyke
December 28, 1931 - February 26, 2021
Joan Loree Van Dyke joined her husband John in heaven on Feb 26, 2021 at the age of 89. She was a resident at Edgewood Prairie Crossing Assisted Living since Sept 2019.
Joan was born at her Grandparent’s home in Groton SD to parents Harry C Raap and Lucy (Mielke) Raap. She was the third of 10 children raised on the family farm in rural Andover SD. She graduated from Andover High School. She attended Aberdeen Beautician School. She owned a Beauty Shop in Groton SD, before she moved to Sioux Falls SD where she met John at the Arkota Ballroom. They were married March 20, 1966. Later she worked at Ravens and Dow Rummel. John died November 24, 1994.
Joan enjoyed growing many flowers, china painting and rosemaling that brought her much joy. She and John spent many weekends dancing and camping.
Survivors include sisters, Kay (Lyle) Kranzler, Sioux Falls SD, Laurel (Robert) Kost, Ft. Collins CO, Allana (Frank) Novotny, Wisner NE; brothers, Jerry (Carol) Raap, Andover SD, Thomas Raap, Sioux Falls SD; sister-in-law, LaVonne Raap, Groton, SD; sister-in-law, Audrey Millage and her family, Liberty IA; and several nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Pat Lackey, brothers, Bert, Charles, and Steven; sister-in-law, Darlene Raap; brother-in-law, Ray Lackey.
