Services Held For
Mrs. Alice Bump

Another of the old settlers has been taken from our midst and it was with a feeling of sorrow to the community when the word reached town that Mrs. Alice Bump, who had made her home in the vicinity had been called to her reward.

Alice Carey was born on Jul 11, 1861 at Ottawa, Illinois and passed away at the home of Harry Peterson on December 9, 1938, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 28 days. She had been ill for a week.

She was united in marriage to Sylvester Bump and after living for a number of years near Schaller, Iowa they moved to South Dakota and settled on a farm north of Colman, which they purchased.

Mr. Bump preceded her in death and since his passing Mrs. Bump has made her home with Harry Peterson near Colman.

The deceased is survived by many nieces and nephews. Those from a distance here for the funeral were: Mrs. Mayme Coughlin of Seneca, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Herron and son Donald and daughters Bernice and Eleanor of Dundee, Minn.; Bernard, Gertrude and Mary Ellen Carey of Kansas City, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Carey and daughter Clare and Miss Anne Murray of Omaha, Nebr.

Funeral services were held at St. Peter’s Church on Monday morning at 9:00 o’clock with interment in the St. Peter’s cemetery at this place.
