Dora was born May 13, 1907, in Artesian, SD, to Alex T. and Maude (Hallett) Adair. She received her education in the Artesian schools and attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls, SD in 1926-1927. Dora married Arthur Christensen on December 17, 1927, in Sioux Falls, SD and lived there until 1930 when they moved to Canton, SD, to start farming. In 1936, they moved to a farm west of Elkton, SD, and in 1939 they purchased a farm northeast of Flandreau, SD, where they lived until retiring in 1965. They then moved into Flandreau and assisted their son in the Bowling Alley for a number of years. Her husband preceded her in death on March 8, 1972. She then worked for Helen Roark in the Corner Cafe for a few years. In 1980, she moved to the Four Winds Apartments where she resided until becoming a resident at Riverview Manor in June 2001. Dora was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Dora is survived by a son, Daryl (Hester) Christensen, Lake Madison, SD; a daughter, Carole (Tom) Duncan, Lake Havasu City, AZ; six grandchildren: Renee, Gary, Steve, Kim, Shanna, and Tommy; and six great-grandchildren: Jerrid, Darren, Erin, Christopher, Mackenzie, and Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and one sister.
Dora married Arthur J. Christensen who was a widower, 17 Dec 1927 in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha Co. South Dakota by John T. Medin, Circuit Judge.
