Erma Mae Duncan, daughter of Arthur A. and Hazel Stombaugh Duncan was born at Egan on July 3, 1915. She started her education at the Egan Public School and then attended what is now Dakota State College. After completing her education she started teaching schools in Moody County and continued to teach until 1944. She was married to Francis DeLay on January 9, 1937 at Flandreau. In 1944 the family moved to a farm three miles northwest of Egan where she has since made her home. She was a member of the Grand Regent of Catholic Daughters of America, president of the Egan PTA, president of the Ss. Simon and Jude Altar Society, president of the Egan Cemetery Association, and a member of the Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.
Survivors
She is survived by her husband; one son James of Egan; three daughters, Carol, Mrs. Russ Kuehn, Canby, MN, Bonnie of Egan and Jane of Madison, MN; two sisters, Verla, Mrs. Morgan Wagner, Albany, N.Y., and Grace, Mrs. Leonard Amdahl, Sioux Falls; two brothers, Dwain, Prescott Valley, AZ, and Dwight, Haywarden, IA, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
