Clement J. "Clem" Hemmer, 88, Colman, died Monday, November 23, 1992, in Dell Rapids.
Clement was born September 22, 1904, on a farm in Moody County, Southeast of Lone Tree to Louis and Katheryn Jungen Hemmer. He was educated in Gale Ridge rural Moody County School. He farmed on a farm that he was born on.
He married Mary Carolan on November 21, 1928, in Cresco, Iowa. She died on November 23, 1984. They farmed until the fall of 1962, when they retired and moved into Colman make their home. Clem continued to make his home in Colman until May of 1992, when he became a resident of Terrace Manor Nursing Home in Dell Rapids.
Survivors include two sons: Gene of Sioux Falls, and Robert Egan; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, George of Egan; and Margaret Welbig of Dell Rapids.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Mary; one brother, Thomas and one sister, Anna Kramer.
Services will begin at 10:30 AM Friday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Colman, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 4 PM Thursday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman.
Rosary will begin at 7 PM Thursday at the funeral Chapel.
Interment was at St. Pater’s Cemetery, Colman.
