Robert J. "Bud" Kneebone, 73, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at the Flandreau Medical Center in Flandreau.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau with the Rev. Stan Gruneich officiating. Burial is at the Union Cemetery in Flandreau. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. today at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.

Robert was born February 23, 1933, at Flandreau to Fred and Bertha (Otto) Kneebone. After receiving his education he continued to live in Flandreau. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps on July 11, 1952, and served during the Korean Conflict until his discharge on July 10, 1955.

He married Patrician Jewell on Sept. 20, 1955, at Pipestone, Minn., and they moved to Whittier, Calif., where he was a roofer.

After returning to Flandreau in 1980, Bud married Ruth Ullom on Dec. 31, 1984, at Flandreau. He owned a roofing company until 1993 when he retired.

Bud was a member of the Roofers Union for more than 20 years, Izaak Walton League, American Legion, N.R.A., and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; five daughters: Valerie Eicholtz of Flandreau, Sherrill (Tim) Broekhuizen of Flandreau, Pam Vosberg of Pipestone, Minn., Bobbie (Wayne) Paulson of Flandreau and Renae Kneebone of Flandreau; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura, a granddaughter, Tommi, and a sister, Bernice.
