Funeral Was Held Friday for Young Wife and Mother

Funeral services for Mrs. Bernard Megard, mention of whose death Monday evening of last week was made in our last issue, were held Friday afternoon, at 1:30 at the home in Highland township, and at 2 o'clock at the North Highland Church.

Rev. Gisselquist of Jasper conducted the services. Mrs. Arne Rusten sang at the home and Rev. Gisselquist and Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Erickson sang at the church. Sigurd Rislov furnished the organ music. Pall bearers were Clarence and Irvin Shjegstad, Theo. Elverson, John Swenson, Oscar Fresvik and Harold Remme.

There were a large number of floral offerings and a large sum of money given in memorials.

Mrs. Charlotte Adamson Megard was born near Dell Rapids on April 3, 1907, and died April 18. 1949, at the age of 42.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith April 29, 1907, by Rev. O.F. Johnson and confirmed by Rev. B.J. Rothnem June 4, 1922. She was an active member of the North Highland Church and had held various offices n the ladies aid society.

On March 27, 1929, she was married to Bernard Megard, who with their two sons, survive, Bernard Jr., is a freshman at Brookings and Charles, a freshman in Garretson high. Her mother, Mrs. Tilda Adamson, six sisters, Mrs. Art Halvorson of St. Paul, Mrs. Harry Munk of Dell Rapids, Mrs. Al Aldrige of Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Jack Nagin of New York City, Mrs. Donald Hunter of Chicago, and Alpha Adamson of Phoenix, Ariz., and three brothers, Seth of Sioux Falls, Louis of Renner and George of Sherman, also survive. Her father and one brother preceded her in death.

Mrs. Megard was a kind and loving wife and mother. Her pleasing personality won her many friends, and she will be greatly missed in the community.

Mrs. Megard had been in poor health for some time, due to the bad heart, but her death at this time was wholly unexpected and quite sudden. She was taken ill while they were in Garretson, and died a short time after their arrival at their home.

Relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were from New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Paul, Sioux Falls, Hill, Beresford, Baltic, Dell Rapids, Renner, Jasper, Sherman, Garretson, Trent, Flandreau, Egan, Phoenix, Ariz., Willmar, Minn., and Clear Lake, S.D.
