Raymond Merle Cox, 52, of Rosepine, La., formerly of Dell Rapids, died of natural causes Wednesday, July 27, 1988 at DeRidder, La.
He was born Dec. 26, 1935 at Corsicana, Texas. He grew up in Kearns, Texas, and attended schools there and at Conroe, Texas. He received a bachelor's degree from General Beadle Teachers College in Madison.
He married Carol Graves in 1961 at Dell Rapids. They lived in Dell Rapids after their marriage and later moved to Sisseton, Wahpeton, N.Dak. and Rosepine, La. where he taught school.
He was a Mason and a member of the Dell Rapids Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters; Mrs. Lonny (Terri) Walker and Becky Cox, both of Baton Rouge, La.; and five brothers,
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 1988 at the Baptist Church, Dell Rapids with Pastor Floyd Austin officiating. Mrs. Frank Greening was organist and Maynard Guild was soloist. Casketbearers were Jerry Kinsler, Ace Park, Clair Anderson, Dorwin Schmidt, David Voy, and Len Hegg. Interment was at the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
Kahler Funeral Home, Dell Rapids was in charge of arrangements.
