Dorothy “Dodi” Olson, age 84, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery near Canton. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral service. Dodi was born January 9, 1927 in Canton, SD, to True and Mildred (Millage) Bell. She attended school in Canton, graduating in 1944. She worked at Farmer’s State Bank and Coil Craft in Canton and Montgomery Ward in Luverne. She also did bookkeeping for her mother at the Toddler Shop in Canton. Dodi married Gordon Weiland in 1948. Dodi married Dean Olson in 1987. Grateful for having shared her life are: her husband, Dean, Sheldon, IA; daughters- Dawn (Russ) Tiemann , Sioux Falls, SD, Donna (Don) Gries, Hudson, SD, and Deanna Jones (Larry Knigge), Huron, SD; step sons- Greg (Chris) Olson, Columbia, MO, Tim (Chris) Olson, Dubuque, IA, and Brad (Karla) Olson, Des Moines, IA; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Peterson, Asheville, NC. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred (Bell) Sanderson and father, True Bell.
