Kathy died on Sunday Nov. 22, 1998 at St. Luke Hospital in Aberdeen after an auto accident. Her nephew, Matthew Sweeney also died in the accident. Kathy's sister, Kim preceded her in death. Kathy Schreurs was born on Feb 16, 1962 at Dell Rapids, the daughter of Duane and Shirley Schreurs. She grew up on a farm near baltic and attended school in Dell Rapids, SD. She graduated from Dell Rapids high school in 1980. Kathy attended Southeast Area Vocational School and became an LPN. She worked at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home in Dell Rapids, SD for a short time. She later became a Registered Nurse. She returned to her education at the University of South Dakota and received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She then completed medical school at USD and received her MD degree in 1990. Kathy served her medical residency in Beech Grove, IND, at St Francis Hospital. She later established her practice at St Francis Health Car in Indianapolis. Kathy also served in the South Dakota National Guard. She would have completed 20 years of service in June of 1999. She holds the rank of Major. Kathy married Jim Baumberger on Aug. 26, 1989 at Huntimer, SD. They made their home in Indianapolis and have two children. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband James of Indianapolis, her daughter, Janice, her son Phillip, her parents, Duane adn Shirley Schreurs of Baltic, her two brothers, Jeff and John Schreurs, both of Baltic, her two sisters, Lori Roberts of Pierre, and Mary Sweeney of Baltic and her many nieces and nephews.
