Pneumonia Takes
Life of Young Man

Lester Halvorson passed away at his home in Dell Rapids early Tuesday morning, following an illness of only a short time. A few days previous to his death he was stricken with a cold, which was not considered at all dangerous until on Monday when pneumonia developed. The attack was so severe that death followed within a few hours.

He was one of the best known young men of the community. He always took an active part in the affairs of the community. Being especially interested in athletics he became quite efficient in basketball and for a few years was coach at S.t Mary's Academy. For the past three or four years he has been connected with relief work in Dell Rapids, handling his work as time-keeper in a very satisfactory manner. His likeable disposition made him a favorite with all who knew him and his untimely death well be keenly felt in the community.

Lester O. Halvorson was born on October 27, 1902, and was the first child to be christening in the present Lutheran church here. He has always made Dell Rapids his home and it was here he attended the public school.

He was the son of the late Halvor Halvorson, pioneer of this community, who died just seven weeks ago.

Survivors include his mother, seven sisters and four brothers, namely: Mrs. Mary Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mrs. Hilda Jensen, Minneapolis; Bennie, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Inez Rice, Sioux City, Ia.; Harold, Chicago; Mrs. Bernice Hove, Flandreau; Mrs. Beatrice Lerdahl, Sherman; Albert of Colorado Springs; Charlotte, Sioux Falls, Marion, Baltic; Delores, Dell Rapids. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and his father.

Last rites will be held on Friday at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 in the Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ole M. Odland in charge.
