Death Has Claimed
Halvor Halvorson
Death claimed Halvor Halvorson on Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock after an illness of several months duration. He died at his home in Dell Rapids at the age of 72 years.
Following the line of masonry and contacting, Mr. Halvorson took an active part in the construction of some of the Dell Rapids buildings, one of these being the Lutheran Church of which he had been a lifelong member. His last project was the completion of the Dell Rapids Dam.
Mr. Halvorson was born in Opdahl, Norway in 1865. In the year of 1884 he came to South Dakota and in 1890 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Anderson of Dell Rapids. To them were born thirteen children, Mrs. Mary Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mrs. Hilda Jensen of Minneapolis; Bennie, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Inez Rice, Sioux City, Ia.; Harold, Chicago; Lester, Dell Rapids; Mrs. Bernice Hove of Flandreau; Mrs. Beatrice Lerdahl of Sherman; Albert of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Charlotte, Sioux Falls; Marion, Baltic; Delores, Dell Rapids,. One son, Robert, died in infancy in 1914.
Surviving are the widow and the above name children. All were here for the last rites except Mrs. Taylor, Albert and Harold who were her two weeks ago.
Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at 1:00 o'clock from the home and at 1:30 in the First Lutheran Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ole M. Odland. Committal rites were held in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
