Ruth J. Schneider was born on August 27, 1923 at Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Fred and Mildred Schneider. She grew up and attended school in Minneapolis graduating from High School in 1942. She attended business college and then was employed at F. W. Woolworth Co. in Minneapolis until 1947. She was then employed at Gambles Skogmo Co as a private secretary.
Ruth married Leonard Wilke on May 6, 1950 in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Highmore, SD. Ruth worked for the telephone company for six years before being transferred to Dell Rapids. She worked at the Dells Hospital, Berg Clothing, and Titus Unger's Cleaning. Leonard died on October 4, 1986. Ruth remained in Dell Rapids until the time of her death.
Ruth was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Ruth died on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at her home. She was 83 and preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and her brother.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Tim and his wife, Diane of Hayfield, MN and Joe and his wife, Tina of Dell Rapids; her two grandchildren, her three step grandchildren, her great grandson and her three nieces and four nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 23, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. Interment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation at Kahler Funeral Home.
