Frank Burton
Frank Burton, 91, of Dell Rapids, died Wednesday, June 2, 1993, at the Dell
Rapids Community Hospital.
Frank Burton was born On Jan. 29, 1902, at Dumas, Minn., the son of Robert and
Icie Dora Burton. He grew up in Mississippi and came to South Dakota in the late
1920's. He served in the Army in WWI. He was married to Vera Christenson on
Jan. 1, 1993, at Huron. He farmed in the Wolsey, Hitchcock, and Bonilla area
until 1966 when he retired and moved to Dell Rapids. He continued to do farm
work at Dell Rapids unit 1989.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dell Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one
daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Vera of Dell Rapids; two sons, Clayton and his wife,
Merry of Hitchcock, and Larry and his wife, Celina of Carlisle, Ky., two
daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Marilyn) Frahm of Dazey, N.D. and Mrs. Eugene (Jeannine)
Hoffman of Dell Rapids; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church, Dell Rapids on
Saturday, June 5, 1993, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Gene Kroger officiating. Mrs.
Milton Merry was the organist and Randy Bobzien was the soloist. Casketbearers
were Darwin Burton, Kerwin Burton, Michael Doyle, Kurt Hoffman, Robert Hoffman,
Mitchael Doyle and tom Kolbeck. Honorary Casketbearers were Neil Jensen, Jay
Nebben, Marcel Eulberg, Randy Bobzien, Ray Jensen and Darrell Weinacht.
Interment was at the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Kahler Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
