Elva Trevithick

Funeral services were held for Elva Trevithick, 102, a Dell Rapids Dakota Territory pioneer, in the Hermanson Kahler Funeral Chapel today at 2 p.m. with Rohn Peterson officiating.

Elvira died Dec. 11 in a nursing home in Ft. Dodge, Ia. She was born in Bergen, New York in 1876 and moved to Dakota Territory in 1883 where her family homesteaded near Dell Rapids.

She married Joseph Trevithick in Flandreau in 1897 and farmed near Dell Rapids until 1931 when Joseph died. She then lived in the Trent and Dell Rapids area until 1958 when she moved to Iowa and later Texas to live with her daughters. She entered the Ft. Dodge Friendship Haven in 1969. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Survivors include thee sons, Lloyd of Long Beach, Calif., Robert of Long Beach and Joseph of Longmonth, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Rosser of Ft. Worth, Tex, and Mrs. Florence Ferguson of Renwick, Ia.; 12 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Casket bearers were Pierre Trevithick, Lyle Lamp, Harold Lamb and Tom Ferguson. Organist was Mrs. Floyd Whipkey, Floyd Whipkey was the soloist.

She was buried at the Dell Rapids Cemetery
